About my creators
Brandon Patterson earned his Ph.D. from the University of Michigan in 2017. His research seeks to understand the ways that ultrasound waves interact with human tissues so that new diagnostic and therapeutic medical techniques may be safely pioneered. In addition to research, Brandon engages extensively in public science outreach. He has developed and taught engineering courses and projects for K-12 students. He also serves as a co-director of the University of Michigan’s RELATE program, where he trains STEM researchers to effectively communicate their work and engage with the general public. Brandon is passionate about STEM communication and education is thrilled about writing a children’s book to reach out to the younger generation to share science with them in a fun and exciting way.

Marc Henry de Frahan received his Ph.D. from the University of Michigan in 2016. His work focuses on using supercomputers to understand fluid and wave interactions in phenomena ranging from stars exploding, combustion processes, cancer treatments, and climate change. He now works on renewable energy technologies. With experience that includes publishing popular science articles online, engineering education outreach with primary and high schools, and technical presentations at national conferences, Marc is excited about engaging with a broad audience to share his passion for science. Marc delights in seeing that light go on in people’s eyes when understanding clicks and leads to a thirst for more.
